Seen, Heard, Healed: Black Men’s Mental Health and Community Healing (LIVE 06/17/26 12:00pm-1:00pm CST)

$0.00

Live Workshop: June 17, 2026 - 12:00-1:00pm CST

Black men often navigate emotional pain in silence while carrying the weight of systemic discrimination, cultural expectations around masculinity, and limited access to affirming mental health support. This workshop explores how emotional suppression, racial stress, and societal invisibility impact the mental health and wellness of Black boys and men across the lifespan.

Participants will examine culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and strength-based approaches that promote prevention, emotional healing, and community-centered care. Through reflection, discussion, and practical application, attendees will explore how counselors, educators, healthcare professionals, and advocates can create spaces where Black men feel seen, heard, and supported. Emphasis will be placed on moving beyond survival toward sustainable wellness, empowerment, and healing.

Speaker: Dr. Bernell Elzey, Jr., LPC-S (LA), LPC (TX), NCC, NCSC Founder and Psychotherapist, Conscious Therapy and Wellness, LLC.

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Examine how systemic discrimination and cultural expectations influence Black men’s mental health and emotional expression.

  2. Identify barriers that contribute to emotional suppression, stigma, and reduced help-seeking behaviors among Black men.

  3. Apply trauma-informed and strength-based strategies that support emotional wellness and healing in Black male populations.

  4. Explore community-centered approaches that promote prevention, connection, and culturally affirming support systems.
